PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS:
Father's Day Cards and the
Very Best of Pinterest Pins

Father's Day will soon be here and I found the perfect card to make for the dads in our family:

Original Pin HERE

My Version:

To make the shirt collar with the gray pattern on it, I cut down 1 1/2" in the center and the white shirt collar was made by cutting down 1" in the center. I wish I had attached the white shirt paper to the printed paper first before adhering to the black layer so the edges would have aligned a bit better.

This WOW! card has a moving
camera shutter effect inside:

Sandi includes a terrific video tutorial that is a must watch and she even included all of the measurements below the video on her blog post HERE. The inside shutter effect will surely cause the recipients to say WOW!

My Version:

...and here's a little video I made to quickly
show how this card works...click HERE then click
on the little play icon in the upper right corner.

It did take me a time or two to perfect a template for the inside moving parts as shown below. It also helps to lay the inside parts in the card before attaching to see if adjustments are needed. Placing the 1/4" sticky tape close to - but not on - the fold/score line is also helpful.

My sister's 60th birthday is in June. She loves blue and this is the card I made her:

Star Wars Cards and the
Very Best of Pinterst Pins

My son had his 30th birthday recently and I wanted to make a special card for him. I saw this card on Pinterst and decided my Star Wars fan would love one like it!

I thought a Yoda sentiment would be perfect for this card:

I made one more card and rounded the edges at the top:

I saw an idea on Pinterest that caught my eye for obvious reasons - haha!

Angel Stamper 2: Ten Rules of Chocolate (Chocolate Blitz 2):

When I started reading the rules, I had some LOL moments and knew I had to try a version of this idea for my college roommate, Linda:

I had a beautiful piece of 3D floral paper saved in my paper collection for years, and using my computer, I made this version:

Linda loved it and I love how it can be modified for all sorts of gift giving occasions! Here are a few more versions:

....and this photo shows one with a smaller chocolate bar from Trader Joe's. I photographed it with the larger Hershey bar version to show the comparison. I like the larger size version best.

I LOVE this versatile favor and mini tote box from Pinterest that will hold two fun size candy bars or a small gift.

I had fun making several fall and Christmas versions:

The "sweet" oval is raised with foam squares
and was the oval punched out at the box top.

On the next version, I added a little flower to the tag:

PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS: Bokeh Backgrounds and the Very Best of Recent Pinterest Pins

I've discovered a lot of cards and videos lately using the Bokeh Technique (rhymes with mocha) for making backgrounds. I used a sponge to lay down two complimentary colors, then used a piece of white cardstock to punch several sizes of holes to use as a mask so white craft ink can be sponged over the background. This technique creates such lovely and versatile backgrounds! There are quite a few variations for BOKEH and here are a few Pinterest pins and videos to check out:

Diane also has some wonderful paper craft ideas for a summer BBQ from SU's Sara Douglass HERE.

few more cards I made with this
wonderful technique:

This one needed something and Martha Stewart embossed white peel and stick borders did the trick! I simply cut them down to a smaller size:

For my DH's birthday recently, I also made this bear card because we call each other Bear:

Here's the original Pinterest card:

Initially, I thought that this card would make a nice Christmas card for my card-worthy friends, but I realized as soon as I started punching and shading that this would be way too much work to make 20+ of these cards! For my DH, it's all worth the work, though! Check out even more masculine cards for Father's Day on Pinterest HERE.

The Very Best of Recent Pins on Pinterest

COLOR ON BLACK CARDS

My talented friend and neighbor, Katie, came up with the wonderful design for this card below and I got to make one for my dear FIL's birthday last week --- PLUS I already had a matching bag in my stash of gift bags! Oh! I love when that happens!

I didn't have the die cut for the letters used to make HAPPY, but I did have a small butterfly punch, so I tried making a few similar cards like this:

SENTIMENT:
Elementary Elegance (SU)

The sentiments in white on the above cards are heat embossed and that - along with the colors on black - really makes these cards pop when seen in person! I recalled seeing other black and white cards on Pinterest recently and this one called out to me:

Darling card!

I'll have to try cutting strips of black card stock to make one just like this, but I did have some black and white striped paper already and CASED this idea to make this card:

SENTIMENT:
Heard from the Heart (SU)
LEAVES Made with a
Martha Stewart Punch

Here's one last variation on cards using strips of color and butterflies. This is my next card to make using SU's small butterfly punch and their Papillon Potpourri set. I'll try it using a black card base, too!
