MONEY AND GIFT CARD HOLDERS

I quickly made several holders to give cash and gift cards for Christmas presents. The look changes with the type of DSP used. Double-sided papers work very nicely! The center band is a slider to keep the holders tightly folded and closed.

INSIDE VIEW
Use 1/4" sticky tape on each side of the
lower section to make a pocket.

The money holder measurements are:
7" square scored at 1 3/4" and 5"
The band measures: 1" x 7" and
is scored at 1 3/4" and just slightly
over the 5" point

The gift card holder measurements are:
5" x 6 1/2" scored along the 6 1/2" side
at 2" and 5" * The band is 1" x 6 1/2"
scored at 2" and slightly over 6 1/2"

Here's another clever way to give cash

PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS:
The Ribbon Wreath Revisited

I recently found a post on Pinterest that made me smile BIG TIME...it was a picture of a lovely framed mini Christmas quilt with a ribbon wreath added in the center for the "O" in JOY....and it was a pin from my oh! so talented friend, quilter, teacher and paper crafter Julie Cefalu on her blog called THE CRAFTY QUILTER! It's like a celebrity sighting when I see a Pinterest picture showing something that a friend of mine has created =)

...and this post was especially exciting because she said in her post that she had learned how to do the ribbon weaving technique from little ole' me! I use this technique for putting Christmas wreaths on cards. You can see samples of the ribbon wreath used for cards below and watch my how-to video to give it a try yourself! First up is Julie's card:

The following two cards are some of my favorite Christmas cards of all time:

MARINATED HAM SANDWICHES

A quick and easy recipe from Ken's sister, Jan. It's one of our family's all-time favorites! Thanks for making me happy by bringing this treat to the PJ Party, Nancy!

Make the day before serving then bake right before serving. If only half the recipe is needed, freeze the remaining rolls after assembly and bake at a later date (adding a few more minutes of baking time if frozen).  These rolls can be served as an appetizer or as a main dish for lunch or dinner.

Marinade:

1 cup (2 sticks) butter

1/4 cup sweet onion, minced

2 tablespoons poppy seeds
(or toasted sesame seeds)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons hot or spicy mustard

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon chopped parsley

24 (2 packages) of King Hawaiian rolls
     or your favorite dinner rolls

mayonnaise to spread on rolls

24 (about 3/4 pound) thin slices of deli ham or any meat      of your choice

24 (about 1/2 pound) thin slices of Swiss cheese,          peppered jack cheese or any cheese variety you desire.

Line two 9” x 13” baking pans with non-stick foil (or use disposable aluminum baking pans for quick clean up).

To prepare marinade, sauté minced sweet onion in butter over low heat until onion is soft and translucent. Add poppy seeds, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar. Stir until brown sugar is melted into the sauce. Remove from heat and stir in parsley. Set marinade aside.

Slice the buns in half. Spread bottoms of buns with a thin layer of mayonnaise. Fold ham slices to fit the bottom of each bun. Repeat with cheese slices to fit buns. Replace bun tops. Place ham and cheese buns into prepared baking pans. Spoon marinade evenly over both pans of buns. (The sauce ingredients will separate. Use a large spoon and get equal parts of butter and remaining ingredients to pour over the buns.) Cover tightly with foil. Refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 350°and bake marinated buns covered for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes.
