PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS:
My Favorite Christmas Cards

Awhile back, I accidently posted two entries on one day for Pin It Friday Favs, so I retracted the one at the end of this post and added some more content to it so I could post everything today. Enjoy!

This card sang to me me when I spotted it on Pinterest and I knew I had to attempt one with the stamps I had on hand:

SU Festival of Trees

Here's my version:

I do love the SU Festival of Trees version in the pinned version and I think I must put it on my Wish List!...and here's another version on this theme that I saw on Pinterest:

I've found many wonderful Christmas cards to make on Pinterest, but this one was stunning and I knew I had to make my version of it:

VERY pretty!

I didn't have the exact punches, but I had very similar items that would allow me create something similar:

While I had everything out, I had to make another one with a few modifications after I found this pin for making a cardinal out of the SU bird punch:

...so I made the card again with a cardinal and a different background embossing folder...and I think I like this one best:

I found an image online using Google images for the Deck the Halls sheet music and used that for the music notes paper. Then I cut it into a circle using my Small Classic Circles Nesties on top of the Small Classic Scalloped Circle die. I have enough supplies for four more cards, but it takes a lot of work just to make one of these cards...so I may be stopping here with two cards made! My mom would love this card because she was a piano teacher and we lived in North Carolina with the cardinal as the official state bird...plus, she always loves my cards and would save this one forever!

PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS:
Beaded Cards

I was cleaning out and reorganizing my craft room when I found a small package of fall-colored beads. I knew right then that I wanted to make up a card for my pen pal, Leslie-Ann, because she told me that she has a friend who makes jewelry and who just started learning to make cards, too. Here is the first card combining jewelry making supplies along with card making:

For my second card, I made some modifications and I liked this one even more:

Then...I decided to do a search on Pinterest to see what was out there on beaded cards and found this wonderful tutorial to make a beaded tree:

Miniature tree tutorial (I always wondered how these were made!)

The instructions for this miniature tree can be found on the blog called THE PLEASURE OF TINY THINGS HERE. The instructions say to start with five lengths of 7" to 8" thin wire with three to four beads on each. I put three different beads on each of my five pieces of wire and here's the card I made on my first beaded tree attempt:

It's one of those cards that looks ten times better in person and one of those cards that I will have a very hard time parting with before I can give it to someone special!...and here are a few more clever ideas using beads and card making supplies - first up, here's a novel way to give someone a pair of earrings:

PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS:
Masculine Birthdays

My son's birthday was last month, and since he plays guitar, I thought this was the perfect card for him:
Guitar birthday card using real guitar pick, Stampin' Up! Word Window punch, Wishes Your Way happy birthday
Original Pin HERE

Here's my version:

I used the Classic Circle Nesties to make the circles and the Happy Birthday from the SU Create a Cupcake stamp set. When I had it all made, I turned the card over to put my HOMMADE label on the back...then when I turned it over to look at the front, to my shock...there was an ink stain on the lower left area - ARGGG!...so...out came the JUST FOR YOU sentiment from the SU Teeny Tiny Wishes set so I could make a small banner to cover the stain.  It worked out OK, thank goodness...and while I had all of my Nesties and gold cording out, I made another one in a darker brown:

I secured the gold cording with red sticky tape on the back/reverse side at the top and bottom while making one continuous wrap around the card to create all six strings. I printed out YOU ROCK on red DSP, sketched out a template for the guitar pick then traced it around the YOU ROCK. To check out my Masculine Cards board on Pinterest, click HERE.

NOTE: I accidentally made two different posts today for my PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS. The post with my favorite Christmas card has been rescheduled for 11/28/2014.

PIN IT FRIDAY FAVS:
Candy Dispensers

She's a Sassy Lady: Candy Dispenser
Original Pin HERE

The candy dispenser above is made using a computer cutting machine that I don't have, so I took a look and designed one using a simple scoring board. Here are the pics of my finished boxes - a large and small version:

To add candy to the boxes, I placed them upside down and loaded them in through the opening. (I made the sentiment on my computer.) Here are my measurements for the small box:

Start with a medium-weight DSP that measures 8-1/2" x 7-1/2":

*Along the 8-1/2" side, score at 2", 4", 6" and 8"

* Along the 7-1/2" side, score at 3/4", 2-3/4", 4-3/4" and 6-3/4"

Draw in all cut lines as shown in the pictures above.

NOTE: If you want to make several dispensers, it is very helpful to cut out one to use as an overlay template to outline all of the cuts with a pencil.

For the larger size dispenser, start with a piece of
10-1/2" x 9"

* Along the 10-1/2" side, score at 2 1/2", 5", 7-1/2" and 10"

* Along the 9" side, score at 3/4", 3-1/4", 5 3/4" and 8-1/4"

NOTE A: I used TomBow Mono Liquid Glue on all flaps. NOTE B: I prefer the smaller dispenser size, and to view more candy dispensers and templates on Pinterest, click HERE.
